March 9, 2015 - Flood

Moderate flooding occurred on the Ohio River. At the Grand Chain river gage, the river crested at 51.50 feet on the 17th. Flood stage is 42 feet. This flood crest was nearly identical to the flood in May of 2010. Water reached the power house at old Lock and Dam 53. Low-lying woods, fields, and bottomlands were affected.

May 25, 2011 - Tornado

The tornado moved northeast across Mound City, where much of the damage occurred. One small mobile home was picked up and thrown into a power pole. There was roof damage to several homes, mainly shingles. Numerous trees were uprooted and snapped. The tornado damage path ended at the Ohio River. Peak winds were estimated near 105 mph. The average path width was 200 yards.
