Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Claiborne County

Thunderstorm Wind. Shortly after midnight on July 10th, an intense microburst occurred around Grand Gulf in Clairborne county. This swath of damage started at the MS River near the Military Park and pushed south southeast to southeast and moved over the Grand Gulf Nuclear facility. Damage from this microburst was primarily in the form of uprooted or broken trees. Several hundred trees were damaged. Additionally, several power lines and poles were taken down. There was one camper that had a large tree through it. Several roads were blocked or blocked in multiple locations in this area. Roads that were blocked included Grand Gulf Road, Back Grand Gulf Road, Frazier Road and Bald Hill Road. Damage was consistent with peak winds in the 70-85 mph range. The damage swath was almost 5 miles long and rough 3.5 miles wide.
