Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Boone County
Tornado. A short-lived tornado developed south of Highway 32 and traveled toward the northwest for approximately 1.5 miles. The most intense damage occurred when the tornado destroyed a one-year-old machine shed and deposited the debris a few hundred yards north across the highway. There were also several power poles snapped in this area and a center pivot was flipped farther north, closer to 130th street.

Thunderstorm Wind. A thunderstorm gust was measured at 62 mph at the Albion Awos. Similar gusts were estimated by Law Enforcement around that same time. The strong winds caused scattered power outages in the area and was accompanied by hail up to quarter-size.

Thunderstorm Wind. Thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at 60 to 70 mph blew down trees onto power lines near Primrose. The winds also flipped 14 center pivots in the area and downed trees causing scattered vehicle and house damage. The winds were accompanied by hail up to 1 inch in diameter which caused quite a bit of crop damage in the area.
