Winter Storm. A Cooperative observer located 2 miles northwest of Eustis reported 8.5 inches of snowfall. Snowfall amounts ranged from 5 to 9 inches across Frontier County. With north winds of 25 to 40 mph, some power outages and downed tree limbs were reported across Frontier County.

A powerful upper level trough of low pressure tracked across the southern Rockies and approached the central plains on November 16th. East of this feature, abundant low level moisture and warm air flowed into western and north central Nebraska. This led to the development of thunderstorms during the evening hours. Large hail and gusty winds were reported with the thunderstorms over portions of southwest Nebraska.

Thunderstorm Wind. A bow echo produced straight-line winds that were estimated up to 80 mph for nearly 30 minutes. The wind damage encompassed over 50 square miles in central and northeast Frontier County, in an area from east of Stockville and west of West Canyon Road to the south and west of Eustis. The high winds produced damage at 12 farmsteads. The most extensive damage just north of County Road 741, where two large metal buildings and nine 10 to 15 thousand bushel silos were destroyed. The wind damage included roofs of homes and outbuildings, windows blown out, over 60 center pivot irrigation systems overturned, large tree limbs down and livestock killed. The strong winds took down power lines and snapped 40 power poles, where the McCook Public Power District reported 173 consumers lost power.

Tornado. This tornado formed 4 miles southeast of Moorefield and tracked north for 4 miles before exiting Frontier County about 3 miles east northeast of Moorefield at 825 PM CST. The tornado continued into Lincoln County for another 13 miles before dissipating at 846 PM CST. As it touched down in Frontier County, it immediately hit a farmstead and took off the roof and attached garage on the house, collapsed a grain bin and carried a horse trailer across the road about 50 yards. The tornado continued north through fields overturning 3 pivot irrigation systems and several power poles before destroying a metal building on another farmstead. The tornado continued north across Highway 23 and traveled just west of one farmstead...breaking windows in the home and destroying a grain bin...and then east of another farmstead where it destroyed one small shed, took part of the roof off a hay barn, scattered irrigation pipe, destroyed a wind mill, and pulled a fence line out of the ground. Numerous trees were broken and uprooted along the path of the tornado. In Lincoln County, it continued to produce extensive damage at 2 more farmsteads. At one of these farmsteads, two adults were injured as their house was destroyed. The tornado was rated F2 in Frontier County and F3 in Lincoln County. The average path width in Frontier County was 220 yards.
