Trees and power lines were downed by high winds on the 1200 block of North Keene Road.
Several trees were blown down by high winds across the county. At least one of the downed trees brought down nearby power lines, resulting in temporary localized power outages.
Snowfall of 1-2 inch accumulated with blowing snow and strong wind gusts of 30-40 mph. Rapidly falling temperatures resulted in slick roads and significant travel impacts. Treacherous travel conditions were noted throughout December 23rd, a busy holiday travel day. Wind chills of -25 were observed on the morning of the 23rd. Extreme cold strained the power grid and rolling blackouts were implemented by utility companies.
There were numerous reports of trees and power poles down causing power outages.
Between 6 and 10 inches of snow fell across Jessamine County. There were many reports from the public of 9 inches. This led to trees down and power outages due to the heavy wet snow.
Episodes
A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms developed in the presence of a warm, moist and unstable air mass. These storms resulted in damaging wind gusts that knocked down power lines, broke tree limbs and blocked roadways.
Trees and power lines were downed across parts of North Central and East Central Kentucky.
