Frequent wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph resulted in scattered to numerous trees and power lines down across Warren County, including some on homes. Numerous customers lost power in Warren County as a result of the strong winds.

Central NC was largely under the influence of a mid-level ridge of high pressure. There also existed strong westerly flow at mid-levels further to the north across the upper Mississippi Valley into the northern Mid-Atlantic. An Appalachian lee trough was present across western NC, which forced some isolated to scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening, persisting as isolated storms into the early overnight hours. There was one severe storm that produced several downed trees and powerlines in Warren County.
