Power Outage in North Port, FL

Broadcast media relayed video of multiple large downed tree branches and powerlines near Old Bradenton Road and 43rd Street.

Power lines were reported down at Tamiami Trail and MacEwen Drive in Osprey. Additionally, a member of the public reported that in a nearby neighborhood, The Oaks, 3 pool cages were destroyed, aluminum poles holding nets protecting tennis courts from a golf course were ripped out of the ground, a large palm tree was uprooted, and several other homes sustained minor unspecified damage. The damage appeared to follow a narrow path, and may have been caused by a gustnado.

Several small tree limbs broke and fell onto power lines causing power outages in the Fruitville area.

Strong sustained winds around 45 mph with gusts near 59 mph over an extended period of time damaged a four story beach resort in Venice. Power lines were knocked down around the hotel, the shingles were ripped from the roof, and the resort's sign was destroyed. A small parked airplane was overturned at the Venice. Two mobile homes received minor roof damage 2 miles northwest of the Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport.

Florida Power & Light utility and the public reported that a few large trees, limbs and power lines were downed in North Port over extreme southern Sarasota county.

A short lived tornado, that originated in Charlotte county and was associated with an outer rainband of Hurricane Gordon, briefly touched down, snapped a few trees, downed power lines and damaged a few carports, east of the intersection of Interstate 75 and Toledo Blade Boulevard. The tornado continued to sporadically touch down along a narrow path as it moved rapidly north across Interstate 75 over rural southeast Sarasota county before it lifted and dissipated.

The Florida Power & Light Corporation reported thunderstorm winds downed several large limbs and power lines from Siesta Key east to near the intersection of Interstate 75 and County Road 780 (Fruitville Road) in Sarasota.
