Power Outage in Oak Grove, LA

A power pole was snapped north of Oak Grove. Scattered trees were also blown down around Oak Grove.

Around 0.5 inches of sleet fell across the parish early in the day, transitioning to freezing rain during the afternoon. Accumulations of around 0.50 inches of ice downed trees and power lines and caused widespread power outages across the parish.

Tropical depression force winds from Hurricane Delta blew down widespread trees across the parish, and a power line was blown down in Oak Grove. A personal weather station on the east side of Oak Grove measured a peak wind gust of 42 mph at 1:10 a.m. CDT. Rainfall amounts of up to 5 to 8 inches were measured in the parish.

A swath of damaging wind occurred in relation to a supercell that moved through West Carroll Parish. Trees were blown down along the path of the storm but the most damage was near Forest. Here, several power lines were blown down as well as trees.

A utility pole was broken along Vaughn Street and powerlines were blown down along Highway 577.

A swath of damaging outflow winds affected portions of West Carroll Parish from Kilbourne to Oak Grove. Numerous trees were blown down in the area. Power was out in Kilbourne, and a shed was destroyed at the intersection of Louisiana Highways 17 and 585.

Two grain storage bins were severely damaged and siding damage occurred to a volunteer fire dept building in the Bowie Community in East Carroll Parish. Additionally, numerous trees and power lines were snapped and uprooted along the path. Maximum winds were around 115 mph. Total path length was 11 miles.

Strong easterly wind gusts, between 50 and 60 mph, developed across West Carroll Parish as a wake low evolved across the region. These high winds downed numerous trees and power lines. Some trees were down on homes with others across area roads.

Several clusters of thunderstorms moved through northeast Louisiana on the afternoon and evening of July 13th. A number of these storms were severe and produced damaging wind gusts that downed trees and power lines. Large hail up to quarter size was also observed.
