A line of strong to severe thunderstorms moved east across Marion county early Saturday morning, March 12th. A tornado touched down in Dunnellon where a large billboard was knocked over and siding was peeled off of a small professional building. Trees were damaged, snapped and uprooted. The next concentration of damage was reported on the south and east sides of Ocala where many trees were blown down and/or uprooted. Powerlines were blown down and numerous residences and an apartment building had damage. Damage in Ocala concentrated near SW 44th Court where some structural damage occurred and tree and powerline damage occurred. Another damaged local was near SW 41st Street near the Paddock Park Apartments where extensive roof damage occurred due to a large tree falling on the building. The county had to open an emergency shelter to house about 6 people displaced from the tornado. The peak winds of the tornado were estimated near 110 mph.

The NWS confirmed a EF1 tornado touchdown on the westside of Ocala. The tornado moved to the east and produced structural wind damage. Plastic signs and street signs were twisted and ripped out of the ground. A large warehouse was damaged along State Road 40 east of Interstate 75. Power lines were downed and a large live oak tree was blown down. Peak wind were near 110 mph.

A video was taking of the tornado crossing I-75. At the start of the event the tornado was rated an EF0 with peak winds near 85 near Courtlandt Farm and Lyladiasical Ranch. Damage in this area on the west side of I-75 included large hardwood trees with multiple branches blown down, fencing damaged, and cedar trees and southwoods damaged. The SECO power station had signficant damage to its utility structures. There were two wooden structures with more than 20% of their roofs uplifted. A nearby structure had fascades ripped off of it. A street sign was twisted and snapped.

A location about 5 miles ENE of Ocala measured a 24-hr rainfall total on 9/10 of 7.30 inches, which was in advance of Irma's heavy rainfall band. At 1 am on 9/11, trees and power lines were blown down about 10 miles SW of Santos. At 1 am, trees were blown down and blocked the road along SE 50th terrace and a tree was down across 14th Street in Ocala. Additional reports of trees and power lines blown down continued through the pre-dawn hours on 9/11 around Ocala with a report of a tree blown down onto a roof on SW 41st Avenue in Ocala. Tropical Storm Fay moved slowly north out of Caribbean Sea, then cut across south and central Florida into the Atlantic Ocean. Fay then slowly curved west and made landfall in the vicinity for Flagler Beach and Daytona Beach on Aug 21st. As the storm made landfall sustained winds along the coast were between 40 and 50 mph with gusts in the 60 to 65 mph range. Storm Surge ranged from 2 to 4 feet along the open coast and about 1 to 2 feet on the St Johns River. Storm Surge Flooding occurred on the St Johns River on Thursday night August 21-22 in the Palatka area of Putnam County as northeasterly winds created a seiche effect driving river water southward. On Friday morning August 22nd the winds became more southeasterly along the river and river water was driven north in the San Marco and Riverside areas of Downtown Jacksonville flooding roadways and some structures. River water depths of 4 to 6 inches flooded the Park Lane Condominium in Riverside. A Ford Bronco in the street outside of the condo floated in the river water a short distance into Memorial Park. Flash flooding occurred on McCoys Creek on Thursday night and Moncrief Creek on Friday. Both creeks are in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. Several vehicles were stranded at Kings Road and McCoys Creek Blvd including one vehicle up to its roof. Areal flooding occurred over much of northeast Florida with roads and small creeks flooded. Minor flooding of structures occurred across the area. Numerous trees and power lines were downed with minor structural damage. High surf and beach erosion threatened five homes on the 3850 block of S Ponte Vedra Blvd in Vilano Beach, Florida. Several minor tornado touchdowns occurred in the area with no significant damage or injuries. Many north Florida creeks and Rivers experienced fresh water flooding with Black Creek, The St Marys River at McClenny, the St Johns River, south of Palatka, and the Sante Fe River experiencing the most significant flooding.

The Atlantic high pressure ridge extended westward across Florida while a Tropical Upper Tropospheric Trough (TUTT) feature over the western Bahamas and southeast FL lifted northward. Drier air north of the TUTT advected into north central Florida through the day. Showers and thunderstorms developed along the I-75 corridor and shifted inland through the day. Thunderstorms over north central FL in the evening tapped into the drier mid-level air on the periphery of the TUTT and created an intense but highly localized downburst near the Ocala International Airport, where numerous powerlines and trees were downed.

A broken band of pre-frontal storms moved across NE Florida during the afternoon and early evening. Strong low level winds promoted strong downburst potential. One storm moved west to east across Marion county and produced some trees and power line damage.

An F1 tornado touched down in the Thoroughbred Acres section of Ocala near the Ocala Airport around 1540 EDT. The tornado moved northeast across the northern section of Ocala producing sporadic F0-F1 damage. The identifiable tornado track ended near th intersection of NW 35th Street and Highway 25 on the north side of Ocala. Damage continued as straight line winds approximately 3 miles farther to the northeast. Damage along the tornado path was primarily roof failures to manufactured housing and roof damage to more substantial structures. Numerous trees were uprooted or snapped. Outside of the tornado track, damage was caused by trees fallen on homes. No fatalities were reported. There were 3 injuries reported: 1 person was in a vehicle that was crushed by a fallen tree and 2 people were lacerated. There were no life-threatening injuries reported at the time of the survey. There was also a funnel cloud spotted along I-75 at approximately the same time. 0355 p EDT: General public reported a possible tornado that overturned 3 small planes and caused damage to numerous hanger doors at the Ocala Airport. 0355 p EDT: A trained spotter reported a garage was demolished on SW 15th Street near the Ocala Airport. 0410 p EDT: General public reported a possible tornado that damaged multiple mobile homes near 40th Street and Highway 301 in Ocala. 0410 p EDT: The emergency manager reported that 3 people were trapped in a home on NE Jacksonville Road in Ocala by a possible tornado. There were trees and power lines down in the area as well.
