Severe wind gusts were measured for a 45-minute period by a Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet near O'Donnell. These winds were the result of an intense rear flank downdraft that accompanied a nearly stationary supercell. Wind damage to buildings and power poles was commonplace throughout O'Donnell and nearby areas.
