Power Outage in Osage City, KS

Power poles reported breaking on the north side of Osage City.

Quarter size hail and 70 MPH were reported. In addition, four power pole were broken. Time was estimated via radar.

Power lines were down on K-174 in Osage county.

Power lines down due to winds on the edge of decaying stratiform precipitation. Tree branches also reported down.

Wind gusts around 60 mph caused power lines and trees down in the Scranton and Carbondale area. A roof was removed from a barn.

Primarily rain fell during the evening hours of the 27th, but gradually transitioned to a mix of freezing rain and sleet, then eventually snow through the night. Half an inch of ice accumulated on trees and power lines by around 9:30am CST in the Osage City area, and power lines were reported to have been downed, notably near the intersection of Hwy 56 and Stanley. Eight-tenths of an inch of ice was measured to have accumulated north-northwest of Osage City.

A large tree was blown down between 4th and 5th streets in Osage City. The tree knocked down power lines.

Spotter estimated 60 mph winds. Spotter's location was 4 miles south of Scranton. Nearby in the city of Osage City, it was reported that a quarter section of the city was without power following the storm. A garage blew over and damaged a primary powerline and transformer.

One quarter to one half of an inch of ice accumulation was reported countywide. Downed tree branches were reported across the county. Power outages were generally scattered and relatively minor across the county, and within the city of Burlington. A portion of the town of Lyndon was left without power after a tree limb fell on a power line. Roadways were in pretty good shape across the county.

Considerable tree and property damage from strong winds. Some metal sheds collapsed and an RV storage building was blown 50 yards. Power lines were downed.

A 9 inch diameter tree limb was blown down, which knocked down power lines and damaged a car on Market Street.

Strong thunderstorm winds blew down several trees in Osage City and knocked out power to some homes.
