Thunderstorm Wind. A microburst /straight-line wind damage/ was confirmed near New Buffalo with maximum winds between 90 and 100 mph. The severe winds produced moderate damage, knocking down multiple trees, wires and utility poles. A house on Black Snake Road sustained minor structural damage. A large portion of a barn was knocked down on the 1000 block of Anderson Road. Debris on roads and downed wires caused lane restrictions on SR 17 and274. A potent upper level disturbance and associated cold pool aloft combined with strong early May sunshine to produce a favorable environment for diurnal convection given considerable low and mid level instability. Storm initiation occurred on the ridges, then moved east across portions of central and southeastern Pennsylvania. Gusty winds, torrential downpours and pea sized hail occurred in several locations with one report of thunderstorm wind damage - trees and power lines down in Perry County.
