Numerous trees and a couple of power lines were blown down by thunderstorm winds along Wolf Creek Highway.
Reports from cooperative observers and the public ranged from 4.6 to 5.5 inches of snow across the county, with highest reports coming from Huffman. A few power outages were also reported in the county. Key Impacts: Snow covered roads, power outages, traffic delays.
Skywarn-trained weather spotters and members of the general public observed ice accumulations from freezing rain ranging from 0.25 to locally 0.5 inches in thickness across portions of Giles County, including around the communities of Pearisburg and Narrows. Accumulations of a mixture of sleet and snow of 1 to locally 3 inches were also observed in these same communities. Key impacts: power outages; hazardous travel conditions; tree damage; schools closed.

Sporadic strong winds in the 40 to 45 mph range late Tuesday, October, 28 and early Wednesday, October, 29 brought down some trees in the Narrows and Pembroke regions of Giles County Virginia. Power outages were reported as trees fell on five spans of power lines near Pembroke late Tuesday evening. Another tree downed a power line that caused an additional power outage in Pembroke and also Narrows.
