Picayune Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Widespread minor to moderate damage to trees and homes was reported across the county. Most structural damage was exterior, such as shingle damage, carport damage, or fascia damage. However, some homes did suffer major damage due to falling trees. Several roads, including state Hwy 43, were blocked by trees or other storm debris. At the peak of the storm approximately 60% of the electric customers in the county were without power.
Zeta produced tropical storm force winds which downed scattered trees and power lines throughout the county. At the peak, over 10,000 customers representing 35 percent of the county, were without power.
Carriere High School had portion of a roof ripped off a manufactured building at the School. Numerous trees down. Power lines down. Time estimated by radar.
A tornado touched down just west of Mississippi Highway 53 and south of Mcneil-Mchenry Road in Pearl River County. Near where the tornado touched down, an outbuilding was destroyed and tree limbs were downed. As the tornado tracked east-northeast, more tree limbs were downed and a few wooden power poles and trees were snapped. Shortly after travelling east of Highway 53, a mobile home and outbuilding were damaged. Additional tree damage continued farther east-northeast before the tornado lifted.
The Pearl River County Sheriff's Department reported numerous trees blown down and power outages across the county, with most of the damage across northern portions of the county.
