What Causes Power Outages?
- Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
- Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
- Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.
What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?
- Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
- Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
- Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
- Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.

I feel PG&E needs to come up with a plan to pay back food lost. This is the second time I have lost food being on a fixed income can be hard on those who are not rich like PG&E. They turned me off regardless of medical needs recorded on my account. I have been ill this week without proper nutrition not being able to cook.
How long is the October 9 th 2019 power outage to last I am a resident of placerville ca and have heard it may be off for one week. All businesses are supposed to be out too. How are we to protect our freezer food. I do not think that dry ice will be that effective for that long. This makes no sense to me. Why can you not make foe several days with breaks in between. I think that the people who will be affected by this are going to protest at the sacramento capitol. Please respond to this message. Email [email protected] or 530391 1207 or 530 391 1208. Thank you
