High winds blew numerous trees and several power lines down across the county. Additionally, a roof was blown off a mobile home in Richlands. Damage values are estimated.

Skywarn-trained weather spotters observed ice accumulations from freezing rain ranging from 0.10 to 0.25 inches in thickness across portions of Tazewell County, including around the communities of Tipton, Asberrys and Bluefield. Sleet accumulations of 0.5 to 1.2 inches were also observed in these same communities. Key impacts: power outages; hazardous travel conditions; tree damage; schools closed.

Thunderstorm winds blew down multiple power lines about four miles northwest of Tazewell.

Several trees were blown down across the county, with one tree bringing down a few power lines with it. In addition, a mesonet site near Burkes Garden, VA recorded a wind gust of 62 miles per hour.

Trees were blown down countywide, blocking numerous roadways partially or totally, including US Route 460 in several cases. Multiple utility poles fell, bringing power lines down with them.|Several large trees were blocking both lanes of US Route 460 West, one car and two trucks hit different trees, leaving the car undamaged, one truck totaled, and one damaged with no injuries reported. A tree fell onto a vehicle on US Route 460 East, totaling the vehicle with no injuries. Forty trees were downed in close proximity, leaving one lane of traffic blocked. One tree fell on a mobile home near Bluefield, causing some damage with no injuries.

Several hours of high winds blew down numerous trees and power lines across much of Tazewell County. Near the community of Tiptop, a 30-foot tall pine was blown down onto a home. Near Cedar Bluff, a tree was blown down onto an automobile, causing damage to the vehicle and minor injury to an occupant. A mesonet station in the community of Burkes Garden measured a gust of 62 mph.

Ice accretion totals across the county ranged from 0.20 inches at a location two miles east of Tiptop to 0.25 inches at both Boissevain and a location three miles east of Tiptop. Power was out to 794 customers in Tazewell County during the late afternoon of November 15th.

Strong winds caused multiple power lines to come down on Norfolk Street and the Southern Main Rail Line.

Snowfall totals from across the county include 8.5 inches three miles northwest of Tazewell, 9.0 inches two miles east-southeast of Tiptop, 10.0 inches at Bluefield, and 12.0 inches at Jewell Ridge. Approximately 1800 electric customers were without power.

Another tree fell two miles east of Tiptop along Route 460 near Springville Elementary School. The final tree fell two miles east-northeast of Tazewell along Bulldog Avenue. Strong southeast winds occurred across the higher elevations of the county as a dry slot pushed into the area. A mesonet in Tazewell recorded a gust of 78 mph. Many trees and power lines were also reported down across the county. Multiple Structures and trees were blown down blocking several streets across the county. A McDonald's play land roof was blown into the street.

Numerous trees were brought down county-wide and some power lines were pulled down as a result. Roof damage was reported to a building in Claypool Hill. Trees were also reported down in the Tazewell and Baptist Valley areas.

Trees were blown down in many locations in the county. Particularly hard hit was Bluefield, Virginia. A 36 inch diameter fell blocking 3 lanes of U.S. Route 460 in the Springville area, at the intersection of Bluestone Avenue. A guardrail was damaged. Trees were also downed along State Route 680. Two power lines were downed at the intersection of Tazewell Avenue and Wesley Street.

At least 40 large trees were blown down county wide. Most came down during the hours of 04:00 and 08:00 EST. Some of these trees fell on powerlines, resulting in outages to 400 power customers.

A strong pressure gradient developed between low pressure moving into the Great Lakes region and high pressure over New England. The result was very strong southerly winds that brought down a few trees over Tazewell County. A power line was brought down near Tazewell by one of these trees.

A lone severe thunderstorm downed two large trees in Tazewell, and caused scattered power outages.

High winds in Tazewell County during the late night of the 19th and early morning of the 20th, downed trees, power lines, and snapped a power pole. There were many reports of minor property damage countywide.
