A pre-frontal trough moved across a moderate to very unstable airmass across VT during the early afternoon of June 30th. This developed several thunderstorms with a few producing severe wind damage across Rutland and especially the mid Connecticut River Valley near Hartford. Peak power outage in the state was reported at more than 7000 customers.
A weak frontal boundary across a moderately unstable air mass triggered a few showers and thunderstorms across the region. One thunderstorm became severe as it exited the Hudson Valley of NY into western Rutland county of VT. This storm produced damaging winds in the form of downed trees and subsequent power outages.
A cold front moved across New York into western Vermont during the late evening hours of June 13th. Very marginal instability but strong winds aloft delivered scattered thunderstorms with isolated wind damage in the form of downed trees, limbs and power lines.
An mid-level disturbance traveled along a surface cold front into a significantly unstable air mass across New York and southern Vermont. This resulted in numerous showers and thunderstorms that developed in central New York and eventually traversed into Vermont by early evening of July 3rd. One intense storm produced a significant, concentrated micro burst in the town of Poultney with scattered damage elsewhere in Rutland and Windsor counties. More than 10,000 customers lost power with these storms.
A very warm and humid air mass was located across Vermont during the afternoon of June 2nd. A strong mid-atmospheric disturbance, ahead of a cold front, moved across portions of Vermont and triggered widespread thunderstorms with pockets of damaging winds and large hail. Some of the damage occurred in the Rutland vicinity as well as the Route 2 corridor between Montpelier and Lunenburg. At the peak of the event, roughly 20,000 customers had lost power.
