Salisbury Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Light to moderate freezing rain formed early morning on New Year's Day. This freezing rain quickly accreted between a quarter to three quarters inch before sunrise. Shortly after sunrise the freezing rain switched to light snow, which persisted for the bulk of the remaining day time hours. The snow did not accumulate more than 1 to 3 inches, but on top of the ice accretion created winter storm conditions. Mostly scattered power outages and vehicle accidents were the impacts, but being a holiday, road traffic was likely light.
Multiple trees and power lines were down along Highway 24 between Keytesville and Salisbury. Also a grain bin was blown over and a shed roof was blown off along Highway 24.
Highway 129 was closed near Bynumville due to power lines being down on the road.
The entire town of Sumner was without power following several power poles and lines being down as a result of severe thunderstorm winds.
Trained weather spotters from across the area reported between .10 and .30 of freezing rain on December 21. Once the freezing rain ended light snow accumulated throughout the area during the overnight hours. Between 1 and 3 inches of snow fell on top of the ice accumulation. Some power outages occurred, but no widespread effects were reported from this ice storm.

Newcomers to CT. Our experience is that not only is the state broke and broken, there are layers of corruption and incompetence that retard even the simplest bureaucratic functioning. We had high hopes when we moved to the beautiful NW corner, but we are out of here in 2021. So long, suckers!
Despite huge price increases by Eversource CT electric supplier, power has been out longer than I can recall in over 30 years! 8/5/20 8:30 am
