Thousands of customers were left without power Sunday as a storm swept through the region, bringing heavy rain and high winds. Both Portland General Electric and Pacific Power were reporting outages by the afternoon. At its peak around 2 p. m. , a PGE outage map indicated that more than 22,000 customers were impacted by hundreds of outages, from the Portland metro area down to Salem and west toward Sheridan. Going into the late afternoon and evening, that number began to drop.
