Thonotosassa Power Outages Caused by Weather

Thunderstorm winds caused minor damage to the roofs of several mobile homes, downed several large trees, numerous large branches and power lines from Thonotosassa to Valrico in northeast Hillsborough county.
National Weather Service damage survey concluded that a short lived "Gustnado", along the leading edge of a northwestward advancing microburst, briefly touched down and toppled a power pole and a few large oak trees, which severely damaged a couple of mobile homes in the Ranch Oaks mobile home park along U.S. Highway 301, one mile west of Thonotosassa.Eyewitness accounts estimated the gustnado to have a diameter at the base of less then ten feet as it moved along the leading edge of the microburst. The maximum estimated winds of the gustnado were between 50 and 60 mph.

JC Defeats was rushed to Tampa General Hospital after a gator bit down on his head. Doctors performed a craniectomy, or surgery to remove a portion of his skull.
