Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Moore County

A small cluster of thunderstorms moved north into southern middle Tennessee during the mid afternoon hours. The thunderstorm knocked down a few trees and power lines. Also, at least one road was flooded by excessive rainfall in a short period of time.

Ice Storm. Freezing rain produced significant ice accumulations of over 1/2 inch. Liquid equivalents of 1.0-1.1 inches were reported, thus, ice accumulations may have approached 1 inch, especially on elevated objects and surfaces. At least 800 residential power outages were reported in Moore County via broadcast media reports. Much of the damages from this event according to Emergency Management were utility repair costs.
