Power Outage in Trumann, AR

Power lines were knocked down and irrigation pivots were blown over north of Marked Tree.

Around one-quarter inch of ice led to widespread tree and power line damage along with power outages.

Straight line winds damaged the wall and roof of a metal building housing a discount store in northern portions of Harrisburg. Debris from the building broke windows in another building located to the immediate north. A tree approximately one quarter mile northeast of the building was snapped. Widespread trees were uprooted in Greenfield. There were also reports of minor roof damage in Greenfield. There were several trees and power lines knocked down further east in Truman.

A roof was blown off a building in LePanto. The King Transportation building was completely destroyed in Trumann. A couple of tractor-trailers turned over on Highway 63 and Hwy 49 as a result of the wind.

Straight line winds downed power lines and power poles blocking Highway 14 west of Harrisburg. Power lines were also knocked down a couple miles northwest of Greenfield. Some roofs were also damaged.

Straight line winds caused minor roof damage to houses in Fisher, Harrisburg and Truman. A carport was knocked down near Fisher and a few signs were blown down in Trumann. Trees and power lines were knocked down throughout the county.

Damaging straight line winds moved through Eastern Poinsett County. McCormick was the first town to receive damage at around 605 PM CST. Fifteen to twenty power poles were knocked down along Highway 214 just east of McCormick. Isolated tree damage was found at various spots along the path of this storms through Eastern Poinsett County. A roof was taken off of a building in Marked Tree. Power lines and a tree were knocked on to a house near Lepanto. An 18 wheeler was blown on to its side on Highway 63 near Tulot. Damaging winds then moved into Western Mississippi County.

A tornado touched down southwest of Weona near Hogg Road. The tornado moved a tractor disc and then moved northeast across open farm land damaging several transmission lines near Highway 373. Four power poles were also snapped. The tornado continued northeast destroying an office trailer at a crop duster hangar off Highway 14 in Weona. The crop duster hangar was also damaged. The tornado then tracked across open farm land damaging trees and power poles. The tornado crossed Henderson Lane and damaged one home. A barn was also destroyed. The tornado then tracked across more open farm land snapping three more transmission lines as it crossed Maple Grove Lane. The tornado damaged more trees between farm fields before lifting near County Road 204.

A tornado touched down southwest of Weona near Hogg Road. The tornado moved a tractor disc and then moved northeast across open farm land damaging several transmission lines near Highway 373. Four power poles were also snapped. The tornado continued northeast destroying an office trailer at a crop duster hangar off Highway 14 in Weona. The crop duster hangar was also damaged. The tornado then tracked across open farm land damaging trees and power poles. The tornado crossed Henderson Lane and damaged one home. A barn was also destroyed. The tornado then tracked across more open farm land snapping three more transmission lines as it crossed Maple Grove Lane. The tornado damaged more trees between farm fields before lifting near County Road 204.

Straight line winds knocked down five power poles in Trumann. A pivot irrigation unit and buildings at a farm store storage compound near the Craighead County border were damaged from the wind. In addtion, a house was hit with a tree in Lepanto.

Straight line winds produced damage near the intersection of U.S. Highway 49 and Punkin Center Road. One building collapsed while power lines and small trees were knocked down as well.

A tornado touched down along Highway 214 snapping a telephone pole in half. The tornado tracked northeastward across W.D. Thomas Road damaging two grain bins and three farm buildings. The tornado continued northeast knocking down one tree and damaging air conditioning units at a home. A truck window was shattered and a mobile home window was broken as well. A shed on the property was picked up and moved into a power pole a couple of feet away. Further northeast, an old barn was toppled. The tornado traveled further northeast lifting along Highway 1 after damaging a barn and a few sheds.

High winds from Tropical Storm Ike affected Poinsett County. One fatality occurred north of Fisher as a tree fell onto a mobile home from the winds. Numerous trees and power lines were knocked down from the winds as well as utility poles. One house and several cars were damaged in Trumann.

High wind blew numerous trees and power lines down across the county. In addition, a high profile vehicle was blown over on Highway 63 between Marked Tree and Trumann. In addition, a tractor-trailer overturned in Trumann. A shed was also blown over by the winds in Trumann.
