Power Outage in Tullahoma, TN

Several hours of severe non-thunderstorm winds across Coffee County led to numerous damage reports, including downed trees and limbs, downed powerlines, and roof damage. Damages are estimated.

Tress and power lines were blown down on Hickerson Road.

Freezing rain brought ice accumulations up to 1/2 inch across Coffee County, resulting in dozens of downed trees, power lines, and power poles. Some trees, power lines, and power poles fell onto homes and blocked numerous roads. Damage estimates from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency reached 1.12 million dollars.

Numerous trees and power lines were blown down across Tullahoma and much of the rest of Coffee County with widespread power outages.

Numerous trees, power lines, power poles, and railroad crossing bars were blown down across Tullahoma with many roads blocked. A restaurant on East Lincoln Street lost its metal roof and a fallen tree heavily damaged a mobile home on East Gizzard Street.

Manchester Police Department reported and shared photos of a large tree that was uprooted knocking down a power line and traffic signal on Highway 41 South at the I-24 Exit 114 interchange. Two lanes of the highway were closed for several hours to remove the tree.

A tSpotter Twitter report indicated a tree was blown down across Thacker Road near Tullahoma. Power outages were also reported in the Kings Lane subdivision near Tullahoma.

Power lines were blown down knocking out power to over 2200 people in the Hillsboro area.

Snow and sleet accumulations up to 0.5 fell during the late afternoon on February 20, followed by freezing rain with ice accumulations up to 0.50 from the evening on February 20 into the early morning hours on February 21. A CoCoRaHS observer 2.4 miles NNW of Manchester measured 0.5 of snow and sleet. Several trees and power lines were knocked down, with some blocking roadways. Coffee County Emergency Management reported $500,000 in cleanup costs across the county. Coffee County was declared a Presidential disaster area on April 2, 2015.

Precipitation totals across Coffee County ranged from 0.1 to 1.0 of combined ice and sleet. A CoCoRaHS observer 4.5 miles W of Manchester measured 0.1 of ice with an unknown amount of sleet. Scattered trees and power lines were knocked down, and many roads and schools were closed.

Estimated winds of 40 to 60 mph blew down several power lines around Manchester.

Trees were blown down onto power lines near the United Regional Medical Center. Wind gusts were estimated to be between 40 to 50 mph. Actual damage type and associated cost to the power lines were unknown.

At 3728 Fredonia Road trees and power lines were downed. Debris was located in a fence. No structural damage was observed.

Tulllahoma police also reported water across Decherd Street, with multiple reports of debri washing across this road and other roads across the county also.

One quarter to one half of an inch of ice accumulations on trees, power lines, and other exposed surfaces caused scattered to widespread power outages across the county. A newspaper reported that ice accumulations occurred on trees and power lines in Manchester. A newspaper also reported that snow changed to sleet around 2 PM, then sleet changed to freezing rain around 3:45 PM. As a result, multiple roads across the county became slick, causing hazardous driving conditions and several car accidents. Details on any damage amounts or injuries associated with these accidents were unknown.

Trees and power lines were down in Tullahoma. A 100-year-old oak tree was blown down on Polk St. Another tree was blown down on Lincoln St. In addition, a tree fell on a house on Lindenwood Street in Tullahoma, and also just 4 houses away, a tree fell on a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan.||1,300 people were without power in Tullahoma at one time during the thunderstorm.

Spotter reported numerous trees and power lines were down on Highway 53 in Manchester. A tree fell on a home and car of Joyce and Buddy Davis at 200 Wiley Street, in Manchester, TN.

Ham radio report of winds estimated to be around 60 mph. Newspaper article reported trees and power lines were down in Tullahoma, with the hardest hit area being in the Jackson Circle area of Tullahoma.

Newspaper article said downed trees damaged a few outbuildings, and also that power lines were down. Power outgages were reported on McBride Road, Highway 280, Leighton Trail Road and Cole Ridge Rd. One homeowner reported losing a window to the storm.
