A strong but shallow arctic air mass slowly seeped south through the Ouachita Mountains of Southeast Oklahoma and into portions of Northeast Texas throughout the early morning hours of February 11th, resulting in temperatures falling to or below freezing across these areas. A southwest flow aloft ahead of a large upper trough over the Rockies resulted in upper level disturbances traversing northeast atop this shallow arctic air mass, with moist and warmer (above freezing) air overrunning the front. This aided in the development of areas of light freezing rain and freezing drizzle over portions of Northeast Texas during the morning hours on the 11th, with ice accumulations of up to several hundredths of an inch observed. This wintry precipitation ended by midday as the front continued to sag farther south into Northeast Texas and temperatures gradually warmed just above freezing.||The ice mainly accumulated on trees and power lines, although some patchy ice was observed on bridges and overpasses across portions of Red River, Franklin, Titus, Morris, Camp, and Wood Counties. The following are icing impacts across the affected counties: ||Red River County: Patchy ice was reported on various bridges throughout the county.||Franklin County: Patchy ice was reported on bridges and overpasses on Highway 37 between Winnsboro and Purley. ||Titus County: Patchy ice was reported on bridges and overpasses on Interstate 30 and Highway 271. ||Morris County: Patchy ice was reported on bridges and overpasses on Interstate 30. ||Camp County: Patchy ice was reported on bridges and overpasses on Highway 271. ||Wood County: Patchy ice was reported on bridges and overpasses near Lake Fork Reservoir along FM 17, FM 515, FM 2966, FM 514, Highway 154, and Highway 182.
