Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Bosque County
Wildfire. The Hard Castle Fire stated as a rekindle of a previously-contained fire that was originally started by power lines. A total of 540 acres was burned south of Walnut Springs to the east of SH 144. No structures were lost. Rainfall on the 14th helped to control and contain the fire.

Extreme Cold/Wind Chill. Extreme cold gripped the county for several days. Overnight lows were below 20 degrees Fahrenheit almost all week. The period of February 15-16th was the coldest with low temperatures between 6 and -5 degrees Fahrenheit. The maximum temperature on the 15th was only in the teens. Wind chill values during the 14th-16th were between 10 to -15 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. The cold temperatures resulted in an extreme amount of damage to pipes, infrastructure, and power.

Thunderstorm Wind. Emergency management reported that three power poles were snapped in half. Debris was facing east.

Tornado. The City of Clifton emergency manager reported a tornado in the city of Clifton. A National Weather Service damage survey crew found evidence consistent with EF-1 type winds. Approximately 40 homes suffered some sort of damage to the home, with two homes with roof damage. Numerous tree, power line, and sign damage was noted in the small and narrow damage path from southwest to northeast.
