An inverted upper trough extending from Central Louisiana into Deep East Texas became absorbed into a weak shear axis across Northeast Louisiana and East Texas on August 5th. These upper level features tapped into a very hot, moist, and unstable air mass with the aid of diurnal heating, with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across East Texas and North Louisiana. Given the elevated nature of these storms, damaging downbursts resulted across the cities of Longview and Mount Pleasant, resulting in numerous trees and power lines downed with some damage to buildings before the storms diminished during the evening.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms developed during the afternoon of May 24th, as an upper level disturbance rotated north across East-Central Texas, ahead of a large upper level trough of low pressure slowly drifting east over much of the Rockies. Moderate instability developed during the afternoon is response to diurnal heating and a very moist air mass in place, such that some of these storms became severe, producing hail and multiple reports of damaging winds which downed trees and power lines across East Texas, Northwest Louisiana, and Southeast Oklahoma. These storms eventually weakened by early evening as the air mass stabilized in response to the more widespread rain cooled air.

A weakening complex of showers and thunderstorms entered portions of Northeast Texas during the pre-dawn hours of June 19th, but a strong southwesterly low level jet feeding into these storms interacted with adequate instability still in place for these storms to re-intensify over portions of East Texas, such that they became severe producing damaging winds that downed trees and power lines, which eventually spread into portions of Northwest Louisiana before weakening again shortly after daybreak. These storms also spawned a brief, weak tornado over Harrison County just northwest of the Nesbitt community. ||This complex of thunderstorms left behind a surface boundary which lifted north across Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas ahead of an approaching upper level shortwave trough. Strong heating near this surface boundary resulted in the development of moderate instability, with large scale forcing ahead of the approaching trough contributing to the development of a second round of severe thunderstorms during the late afternoon through the evening hours across East Texas. The storms produced damaging winds and large hail, with localized flash flooding in Northeast Wood County before finally weakening during the early morning hours of June 20th.
