Power Outage in Tylertown, MS

Local Sherriff's office reported several trees and powerlines downed by thunderstorm winds in the Lexie area.

Minor to moderate damage to trees and homes was reported across the county. Most structural damage was exterior, such as shingle damage, carport damage, or fascia damage. However, some homes did suffer major damage due to falling trees. At the peak approximately 50% of the county was without power.

Thunderstorm damaging winds downed multiple trees and powerlines the intersection of East Salem Road and Jack Duncan Road north of Salem Mississippi.

A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team from NWS Jackson, MS has surveyed the storm damage in Walthall County, MS. It has been determined the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Damage estimates were consistent with winds of 95 mph.||This tornado started just west of MS Highway 27 along St. John Road and tracked northeast and dissipated just inside Marion County, MS at the dairy farm along Brumfield Rd. Along the path, many trees were damaged. This included snapped and uprooted trees as well as many large limbs broken. Along Highway 27, minor roof damage occurred to one home. Along McKenzie Road, more substantial tree damage was noted and a power pole was taken down. Another area where more substantial tree damage occurred was south of Fulgham Road and at the intersection Opossum Trot Road. The tornado continued northeast and weakend as it crossed Highway 585 and into western Marion County. Large limbs were blown down mostly, with some scattered uprooted trees as well. About 0.4 miles of the track occurred in Marion County, MS.

Six to seven inches of snow was reported to the north and west of Tylertown. Accumulation of wet snow caused small and medium sized tree branches to snap, which fell on power lines resulting in some power outages.

A weak tornado...EF1...touched down along and just north of Mississippi Highway 48 west of Tylertown. Some large trees were uprooted and snapped. Power lines were damaged by the fallen trees. Wind speed estimated at 95 mph.

The Walthall County Sheriff's Office reported numerous trees blown down and power outages across the entire county. Most of the damage was reported in the Salem area.

Power lines were reported down on several homes near New River Road and Highway 48 West in the Tylertown area.

A tornado, of strong intensity at several locations, entered Walthall County from Washington Parish LA. The tornado moved northeast across the southeast portion of Walthall County before exiting into Marion County. Several mobile homes were destroyed and roofs were blown off several frame houses. One injury was reported from an occupant of one of the mobile homes. Trees and power lines were also downed in a number of locations. Overall, the emergency manager reported 11 structures with major damage and 5 structures with minor damage.
