Strong Wind. Several trees were blown down across Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville from the remnants of Ian. In Danville, at least nine trees were blown down, including Audubon Drive, Guerrant Street, Lanier Avenue, Lexington Avenue, Mountain Hill Road, North Main Street, Schoolfield Drive and Updike Place. Other known locations were trees were blown down include Chalk Level Road and the intersection of Chestnut Level Lane and Spring Garden Road. 17,000 residents, or about 42% of the county, were without power during the peak of the storm. A peak wind gust of 51 MPH was measured at the Danville Regional Airport.
