Power Outage in Meadows Of Dan, VA

High Wind. Wind gusts downed trees and power lines throughout the county. Some secondary roads, including Pleasant View Road, were blocked by trees for a period of time. Periodic wind gusts to over 35 mph were reported into the early morning hours of April 2. Damage values are estimated.

Winter Storm. Skywarn-trained weather spotters observed ice accumulations from freezing rain ranging from 0.25 to 0.3 inches in thickness widespread across Patrick County, including around the communities of Buffalo Ridge, Woolwine, Charity and Stuart. Sleet accumulations up to 0.7 inches were also observed in spots. Key impacts: power outages; hazardous travel conditions; tree damage; schools closed.

Winter Storm. Skywarn-trained weather spotters and members of the general public observed ice accumulations ranging from 0.25 to 0.34 inches in thickness across portions of Patrick County, including around the communities of Buffalo Ridge and Sanville. Modest sleet accumulations of up to 0.1 inches were also observed in spots across the county. The icing resulted in over 1,343 power outages. Numerous trees and tree limbs were also brought down by the weight of the icing. Key impacts: power outages; hazardous to impossible travel conditions; widespread tree damage.
