The strong storm that raked much of Western Washington with strong winds and heavy rain was also blamed for leaving nearly all of the island's residents without power for much of the day. As of Monday evening, many residents of the area remained without electricity with officials saying they hoped to have power restored by midnight. The outage that began around 8:30 a. m. Monday resulted in traffic lights that didn't work and other utilities that didn't turn on when the switch was flipped.
