Episodes
Powerful southwest winds behind a cold front gusted to 55 knots (63 mph) at a severe weather spotter's residence on the southwest side of the city of Watertown (Jefferson Co.). Elsewhere across the county gusts were in the 43 to 52 knot range (50 to 60 mph). These wind gusts knocked many tree branches out of trees. In addition, these winds were responsible for widespread blowing and drifting snow which made it difficult for highway snowplow crews keep roads open during the pre-dawn hours.
Scattered thunderstorms, some marginally-severe, moved east-southeast across parts of south-central and southeast Wisconsin. Powerful downburst, straight-line winds gusted to an estimated 52 knots (60 mph), resulting in toppled large trees. Large hail was also noted west of Plain (Sauk Co.).

What Causes Power Outages?
- Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);

What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?
- Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
- Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;

Heavy Explosion - then Power went out in Watertown 55388 _ 8:20Am. At the corner of Territorial St W and Jefferson Ave NW. At first look, power is out on the North Side of Territorial St W. Quick Look at Transformer 300 ft down on Territorial from corner of Jefferson seems to look fine. Power Co was called at the same time at 800_895_1999, while giving information she noticed 14 others had reported it also, and said service might be back about 11Am. Make sure to unplug all Tv's and computers in the mean time to prevent power spike hit when it comes back on. It killed my computer before. Good Luck...
