Abilene Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Tree blew down into a powerline just north of Abilene. Wind estimated at 70 mph.

According to EM who was following the tornado, it stayed in rural areas of Dickinson county damaging trees and power lines. The damage track was sporadic indicating that the circulation may have lifted briefly along its path.
Episodes
A slow moving storm system brought widespread rain to Northeast Kansas during the afternoon and evening of Monday Dec 19th. The rain turned to snow across parts of the area and became heavy at times. By the morning of Tuesday Dec 20th parts of Central Kansas had received 6 inches of snow. Freezing drizzle and light freezing rain and sleet also occurred across the area during the overnight and early morning hours of the 20th across the area. This produce a light glaze on elevated surfaces generally one quarter inch or less. No power outages due to ice were reported.
A line of severe thunderstorms moved into north central Kansas early the morning of the 24th. Hail to the size of half dollars fell, and winds to 70 mph were reported across the region. Minor damage was reported, mainly to tree limbs, power lines, and some structures. One home had it's roof partially torn off, and it's carport destroyed.
Thunderstorms developed over the area the afternoon of the 4th and many became severe, eventually producing a large tornado outbreak in the Kansas City area. Large hail occurred along with 2 funnel cloud sightings. Strong winds spread away from the thunderstorms over several counties and produced power line damage.
