Power Outage in Allegan, MI

A mesonet station near Dorr recorded a peak wind gust to 68 mph and there were downed tree limbs and power lines.

A peak wind gust to 73 mph was measured at Holland Tulip City Airport. There were several reports of wind damage and power outages.

Wind gusts up to around 60 mph downed tree limbs and power lines and resulted in widespread power outages.

A bow echo raced east across Allegan county during the late morning hours, bringing down numerous trees and power lines in areas including the city of Allegan and several miles south of Holland. Radar data suggests that downed trees were likely countywide.

As a strong gust front swept across the county, numerous trees and branches were reported down countywide by both law enforcement and trained spotters. Some roads were blocked by fallen trees and had to be cleared by the county Road Commission. Additionally, some scattered power outages were observed.

An Allegan county emergency manager reported that power lines were blown down in Ganges.

Power lines were blown down and a eight inch diameter tree was broken in half in Allegan.

A peak wind gust of 62 mph was measured at the South Haven GLERL coastal observation site and 61 mph at Muskegon. Interpolation of this data suggests that peak wind gusts reached at least 60 mph across portions of Allegan county. Approximately 3,400 people across Allegan county lost power as a result.
