Outbuildings and garages destroyed in the east part of O'Neill. Many trees, some large, down throughout town. Power also out in most of the city of O'Neill.

Cooperative observer and general public reported a quarter to half inch of freezing rain. This caused some tree damage and power outages. This was followed by heavy snowfall of 1 to 3 inches across Holt County. North winds of 20 to 30 mph caused low visibilities and some drifting snow.

Thunderstorm winds toppled a tree into power lines, which caused power to be out in the city of O'Neill for two and a half hours.

Winter storm conditions occurred across Holt County during the afternoon and evening hours on January 6th, 2010, as strong northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph |and gusty combined with falling snow. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches were reported. Visibilities were reduced as low as a quarter mile at times and many primary and secondary roads were closed by early evening. Although the snow ended by early evening, strong northwest winds persisted overnight to cause continued blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility. Several automobiles became stranded and a few power outages were also reported.

Strong winds snapped off large tree limbs and a power pole.

Blizzard conditions began across Holt County by 4 pm CST on April 4, 2009. Snowfall amounts ranged from 4 to 12 inches. Strong north winds of 30 to 45 mph caused significant blowing snow with reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile during the late afternoon and overnight hours. Snow drifts up to 8 feet high closed roads and strong winds caused power outages across much of the county. Many newborn calves died in the storm.

The tornado uprooted large cottonwood trees at the end of a driveway as it touched down. The tornado then moved north and destroyed a metal windbreak and then demolished an old one-room schoolhouse and broke off a power pole. The tornado then broke off trees in a shelter belt before lifting. A grain trailer was also damaged and another one tipped over.

Freezing rain preceded the heavy snow with ice accumulations up to a quarter inch in the eastern half of the county causing some downed power lines and tree branches. Storm total snowfall amounts ranged from 5 to 10 inches. The snow combined with winds of 15 to 30 mph causing blowing and drifting.

Ice accumulations of a quarter to half inch occurred followed by snowfall amounts around 3 inches. Ice accumulations caused power lines to snap creating power outages...mainly in the eastern and southern portions of the county.

Power poles were broken as well as large trees which were broken off and in roadways. The AWOS at the O'Neill airport recorded a wind gust of 62 kts (71mph) at 10:33p.m. CDT. The bow echo that produced the winds also rolled across Cherry, Keya Paha, Boyd, Brown, and Rock counties.

The tornado broke power poles and mature trees, damaged a house roof on a farmstead, and moved a detached garage off of its foundation.

Tornado was intermittently on the ground for six miles and destroyed or damaged several farm buildings, knocked down power lines, fences, and trees. Four center pivot systems were also damaged or destroyed.
