Bunker Hill Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Thunderstorm winds blew down a large tree onto Illinois Route 159 about a mile south of Bunker Hill. Several power lines were blown down onto School House Road east of intersection with Dorchester Road.
Thunderstorm winds blew down numerous trees and power lines between Bunker Hill and Gillespie. One tree was blown down onto Illinois Route 16 in Gillespie.

Thunderstorm winds blew down 15 power poles onto Illinois Route 159 just north of Mansholt Road. Route 159 was closed for about 12 hours while the poles were being replaced. Additional power poles were blown down just north of Illinois Route 138 on Whitefield Road.
The line of severe storms moved across southern portions of Macoupin county. A microburst occurred just south of Bunker Hill. Numerous trees, tree limbs and power lines were blown down. Also, a mobile home 4 miles east of Brighton was damaged by two fallen trees and another home one and a half miles south of Bunker Hill was damaged by a fallen tree. Three of four roofs were torn off of the relatively new dugouts at the Bunker Hill High School baseball fields. Small outbuildings and barns sustained minor damage in the area due to the microburst winds.
