Events
Intense straight line winds due to the microburst first occurred at 8:12 PM MDT near the Burlington airport. This began an area of intermittent damage consistent with wind speeds in the 100-115 mph range. The most intense winds occurred over an area 4.2 miles long and 600 yards wide, ending near Interstate 70 and the Kit Carson Correctional facility. The most significant damage occurred near the Burlington airport where a large evergreen tree was snapped at the trunk and near the Kit Carson Correctional Facility where four power poles were snapped and a nearby outbuilding was destroyed. Damage due to winds in the 60-80 mph range continued to the north of Interstate 70. Additional storm damage included: uprooted trees; damage to the wind and visibility sensors of the KITR ASOS, a camper trailer, overhead garage doors (blown in/dented), fences, windows, siding and roofs of outbuildings and a mobile home; and the flipping of shipping containers and semi-truck trailers. The city of Burlington also lost power as a result of the storm damage.

Trees, power lines and power poles down in and around the Burlington area as well as other locales around the county.

Episodes
During the early afternoon a line of thunderstorms slowly moved northeast across East Central Colorado. Hail up to golf ball size fell at Flagler, with the hail reaching a depth of several inches. The hail was several inches all the way to Siebert as well. The hail was deep enough to reduce interstate traffic to a crawl. As the storms exited Flagler a damaging wind gust occurred which blew down many electrical poles a mile or so northwest of town. This resulted in no power for several hours for parts of Flagler.||During the early evening a second round of thunderstorms moved in from the west-northwest. As these thunderstorms moved in a wind gust of 70 MPH occurred, blowing a semi on its on I-70.
During the afternoon and early evening severe thunderstorms moved across East Central Colorado from the west. Estimated wind gusts of 80 MPH blew down three to four inch diameter tree limbs south of Wild Horse and produced near zero visibility. The thunderstorm winds also blew down power lines south of Seibert. Heavy rainfall from the storms lead to flash flooding in the Stratton vicinity, where over four inches of rainfall was measured. Water six inches deep was still flowing over the Road 34 and Highway 24 intersection well after the heavy rain had ended.
After midnight a brief but strong tornado occurred over rural northwest Kit Carson county east of the Road MM and Road 12 intersection. At least two empty grain bins were destroyed along with an old stock shed. Six power poles were also snapped.
