Power Outage in Chickasha, OK

A power pole was damaged along US-81 just north of the Chickasha airport. Some damage to outbuildings was also reported near US-81 and 4-mile Road.

The second tornado of the outbreak developed along County Road 1340 about 1.5 miles west of the Grady-McClain County line. The tornado moved east along County Road 1340 destroying a small trailer and a small shed, and damaging trees and a power pole. The tornado moved into McClain County.

This tornado developed approximately 4 miles west-southwest of Amber, briefly moved northeast before turning east-southeast. A barn and an RV were damaged southwest of Amber, and power poles were damaged south of Amber. Tree damage was also noted just west of Interstate 44, but the tornado did not appear to cross I-44.

Freezing rain prevailed through the event with widespread 1/4 to 1/2 inch ice accumulations on trees, power lines and other elevated surfaces.

This tornado is labeled #G1.This anticyclonic tornado continued from northeast Stephens County into southeast Grady County. Damage was reported to fences, trees, and around 20 power poles, and several structures were damaged. Minor damage to mobile homes was also reported. Monetary damages were estimated.

Up to a half inch of glaze accumulated on most elevated surfaces, with higher accumulations of 3/4 to one inch of accumulation over the southwest portion of the county. Widespread damage to power poles/lines and trees was reported countywide, with thousands without power for several days. The precipitation briefly changed over to sleet during the late afternoon, with an inch of sleet accumulating on top of the glaze.

Wind gusts up to 58 mph were reported for five to ten minutes, 4 miles west-northwest of Rush Springs. Power lines were downed on the north side of Rush Springs with power out in town. Monetary damages were estimated.

Widespread tree damage was reported county-wide. Power lines and power poles were downed due to the ice accumulation, with thousands of residences and business' without power. The icy roads caused several traffic accidents, the majority of slick spots were on bridges and other elevated surfaces.

Twenty trees were blown down. Several power poles and lines were downed. The new scoreboard at Memorial Stadium was blown over as well. Monetary damages were estimated.

Power poles were downed from mile marker 83 to 89 on Interstate 44. The interstate was closed from 0130 to 0315 CDT. Near mile marker 85, big tree limbs were downed. A small water tower and outbuildings were also blown over on the south side of the interstate near mile marker 90.
