Severe thunderstorms knocked down power lines.
Periods of heavy snow fell across Sherburne County from Tuesday evening, through Wednesday morning. Some of the precipitation mixed with sleet and freezing rain during the evening. Locally 6 to 8 inches of snow fell, with some ice accumulations on trees and power lines.
Multiple trees and power lines were blown down near Elk River.
Several spotters across southern Sherburne County reported severe winds with numerous areas of downed power lines and large trees from near Becker, to Big Lake, Minnesota and northward. A trained spotter measured a wind gust of 70 mph near Big Lake at 1715 CST.

A cluster of severe thunderstorms that developed over South Dakota early Thursday morning, moved across west-central, and central Minnesota during the morning. Most of the hail fell across the central third of Minnesota, with some hail stones measured at 2 inches in diameter. In addition, a few mesonet wind sensors and the St. Cloud regional airport all reported severe wind gusts. There was also wind damage near Cold Spring and in central Morrison County where power outages occurred.
