Power Outage in Eupora, MS

Pictures on social media show a tree that knocked down power lines on Highway 9.

Trees were blown down which resulted in power outages in Clarkson.

A large tree was blown down and broke several power poles along Martin Luther King Jr Drive just outside of Eupora.

This brief tornado started between Antioch and Johnson Roads. First noted damage was a few uprooted trees on the edge of a field south of Johnson Road. Then along Johnson Road, trees were damaged at a home with one tree on a large shed. A power pole was leaning here as well. The tornado quickly dissipated at this point. Maximum estimated winds were 80 mph.

A tree fell onto a power line. Also, a tree fell onto a house along Adams Avenue. There were injuries to two occupants.

Many thousands of trees were snapped or uprooted along the path of this tornado. Numerous roofs of homes were severely damaged. Numerous mobile homes were severely damaged and several mobile homes were completely destroyed. Numerous barns and sheds received heavy damage or were destroyed. Numerous power poles and power lines were down. Extensive damage occurred to a school in Cumberland, Webster County, and this was the basis for the EF-3 rating. Maximum winds were around 140 mph. Total path length across Choctaw, Webster, Clay, Chickasaw, and Monroe Counties was 59 miles.

This tornado appears to be part of a family of tornadoes that hit the Choctaw/Webster counties area in association with the same storm. A person was fatally injured when a tree fell on a mobile home just west of Mathiston in southeastern Webster County. Maximum winds were around 125 mph. Total path length across Choctaw and Webster Counties was 13.3 miles.

Several trees were blown down in southwest Webster county and around the Tomnolen community. One power line was also blown down in Tomnolen. Additionally, a few homes sustained shingle damage to their roofs.

At the ball park in Eupora a dugout and fence were destroyed along with several trees and power lines blown down.
