Wind gusts ranged from 45 to 50 mph across the county. These winds resulted in scattered downed trees and power lines. A large oak tree fell onto a vehicle on Gregg Ave. in Florence. In addition, rainfall averaged 2.5 to 4.5 inches.

A powerful storm system that had moved across the deep south during previous days, swept across the eastern Carolinas during the afternoon and evening hours. Instability and shear values were highly supportive of super-cell thunderstorms. The result was a large outbreak of severe weather including tornadoes across eastern South Carolina.
Large upper low positioned over the Great Lakes region directed a powerful upper jet across the southeastern US. The most common severe weather reports were from downed trees due to the convective gusts.

12:40 am. Woke up hot. Not sure how long power has been off. Do not see any lights in entire neighborhood. Springfield Way in the Triump area of Merrill’s Ranch in Florence.
