Forcing associated with a system over northern Minnesota/Wisconsin helped generate a round of severe thunderstorms ahead of an attendant cold front moving across the Great Lakes during the afternoon and evening of 4/24. Areas near Saginaw Bay experienced damaging wind gusts with this round of storms, knocking down trees and powerlines across Gladwin, Arenac, and Iosco counties.
An MCS that initiated during the early morning hours of 8/24 along the Minnesota/Wisconsin border quickly trekked east during the day, eventually making it into southern portions of the forecast area by the evening. Strong winds associated with this line of storms resulted in trees and powerlines down across parts of Gladwin county.
