Power Outage in Glasgow, MT

Public reported, via Facebook, thunderstorm wind damage, including power lines down, a sliding door ripped off a large farm shop building, several large tree branches down, and a 500 gallon propane tank knocked over. Time estimated by radar.

Spotter estimated 60 mph winds and reported pea-sized hail, small tree branches downed and a power outage.

Strong winds downed trees and powerlines and ripped the roof off a lean-to shed.

Five miles west of Hinsdale received 0.99 in about 17 minutes, through 9 pm MST. 11 miles west of Glasgow along the Tampico Road, two older power poles were snapped and down due to heavy rain and a wind gust to 45 mph. At 2130 MST, 1.6 of rainfall fell during this event. Through 11 pm MST, 10 miles west of Glasgow 2.09 of rain fell.

A power outage caused by a tree branch falling across a power line during a severe thunderstorm caused the death of 110,000 Chinook salmon fingerlings at the Fort Peck Fish Hatchery.

Roofs were blown off buildings and a hanger collapsed. An airplane that was in the hanger suffered damage. Several wind breaks were also destroyed. A power line was blown down, and pieces of roofing were in the power lines that were still standing.

The roof of the Cottonwood Inn Restaurant was blown off. A new record wind gust of 82 mph was set at the Glasgow International Airport.
