Thunderstorm winds blew down several trees near the intersection of 4th Street and Henry Street. Also a large tree was blown over into the front yard, narrowly missing the house. Numerous tree limbs and power lines were blown down around town, including in Oakwood Cemetery.
Thunderstorm winds caused widespread damage between Granite City, Pontoon Beach, Glen Carbon and Troy. Numerous tree limbs were blown down as well as power lines. Also, several large trees were blown down. In Glen Carbon, some of the fallen trees blocked roads in the Oakdale Lake Drive area. Just east southeast of Troy a large tree fell onto a driveway.

Thunderstorms winds downed trees and power lines across eastern and central Madison County. Power lines were reported down along Highway 203 in Madison and also in Godfrey. Corn in several fields near Troy were flattened by the wind.
Thunderstorm wind gusts caused damage at a marina along the Mississippi River in Alton. Several docks were damaged with the debris damaging several boats. Damage was estimated at $1 million. Trees and power lines were reported down in Roxana and Wood River. The local electric utility reported that up to 1200 customers lost power. At the ConocoPhilips oil refinery in Wood River, the power outage caused some spectacular flames to erupt from the burn towers. A company spokesperson said that was a normal procedure during a power outage because excess hydrocarbon products in the plant's processing units must be burned off to prevent explosions.
Thunderstorm wind gusts caused scattered damage across the area. Near Collinsville, 2 large trees were downed blocking a street. In Highland, trees and power lines were downed, including a historic hackberry tree in the downtown square. Two cars were also damaged by a business sign that was blown down. Southwest of St. Jacob, a couple of 50 foot tall trees were blown down at a farm.
The Sheriff Department reported trees and power lines down in Godfrey. One tree fell on a house knocking a hole in the roof. In Alton, a 12 inch diameter tree limb took down power lines at State and 9th Streets knocking out power.
