Wind gusts estimated to be near 70 MPH resulted in a the destruction of a wood frame outbuilding. A semi truck was also overturned. An irrigation pivot was flipped and a few power poles were leaning.
A portion of a tree was downed and landed on a power line, resulting in a loss of power for part of the town.
This is a continuation of the tornado that touched down in the Scandia area of Republic County, KS. This tornado was rated an EF2, with an estimated peak wind speed of 120 MPH. The strongest and widest portion of this tornado occurred in Republic County, KS.||In the Thayer County, NE, portion of this tornado, trees were damaged and pivots were overturned. Power poles and grain bins were damaged. One home southeast of Hebron had its roof partially removed. This tornado crossed Highway 81 approximately 6 miles south of Hebron.
Public reports of damage include major tree damage and power outages.
This tornado originally started in Jewell County Kansas. It entered Thayer County from Republic County Kansas. It also exited Thayer County and entered Jefferson County. Tornado damage in the county started near Hubbell where a few homes had some roof damage. In rural Thayer County damage was basically limited to trees and power poles. One outbuilding lost part of its roof and a couple of grain bins were damaged.
