KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- Hundreds of people in Kalkaska were without power Tuesday evening. Consumers Energy was first alerted to the issue around 4 p. m. The power outage was throughout downtown Kalkaska and the surrounding area, impacting more than 2,000 homes and businesses. The cause of the outage was being reported as equipment failure. Power was restored around 5:45 p. m.

Power outages reported at Old Mission Peninsula, other northern Michigan communities | WPBN

Gusty winds have left residents on Old Mission Peninsula and other communities in the region without power on Sunday. According to Consumers Energy, more than 2,100 are without power on Old Mission Peninsula in Grand Traverse County. Consumers said there are 139 crews in the field working to fix the problem. Great Lakes Energy is reporting 833 total outages, with more than 500 at Beaver Island in Charlevoix County and 108 near Kalkaska.
