This wide, multi-vortex EF2 tornado touched down west of Kewanee, where it damaged farm buildings and power poles. The tornado continued through the north side of Kewanee, where it primarily damaged trees and sheds. The tornado continued to the northeast of Kewanee with more significant tree and power pole damage. Estimated peak winds were near 120 mph.

Power poles were blown down near the Baker Park Golf Course and and another near New Street and High Street. The time was estimated from radar data.

A NWS COOP obsever reported ice accumulation in Geneseo, Illinois, with Trained Spotters reporting 0.5 inches of ice accumulation. Power outages from down power lines, numerous downed power poles, and tree branch damage were widespread throughout the county.

August 25, 2021

A few severe thunderstorms developed during the mid afternoon hours of August 25. A landspout was witnessed by law enforcement briefly touching down in a field southwest of Geneseo, IL around 3:40 PM CDT. Further to the south, a severe thunderstorm produced large hail and damaging winds. Hail at least golf ball sized was reported and severe wind gusts around 60 MPH resulted in damage to tree limbs, power lines, and shingles. Another separate short lived tornado occurred in Warren County, just east of the town of Berwick, IL.

June 15, 2019

Severe thunderstorms tracked across portions of eastern Iowa, northeast Missouri, and northwest Illinois Saturday evening, June 15, bringing damaging winds, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, large hail, and a tornado. Many areas saw winds between 30-50 mph during the evening hours, with higher winds of 60-70 mph reported in Iowa and Benton counties in Iowa. ||The storms produced three tornadoes in Des Moines County (west of Mediapolis, IA and south of Oakville, IA) between 7:50 pm and 8:30 pm.||Two tornadoes south of Oakville were rated EF2 and downed numerous trees, severely damaged a house displacing it off its foundation, destroyed outbuildings, and downed power poles.||The tornado west of Mediapolis remained in an open field and was rated EF0.||Another tornado occurred just northeast of Keithsburg in Mercer County Illinois. This tornado was rated EF1 and trees.

July 26, 2012

A weak cold front triggered isolated severe thunderstorms in northwest Illinois during the afternoon on July 26, 2012. Winds were estimated at 60 mph. A trained spotter reported tree limbs and power lines down in Princeton, Illinois in Bureau county. Two 5 inch diameter pine trees were also blown over. Another trained spotter reported several 3 to 4 inch tree limbs down along with a 6 inch diameter tree in Cambridge, Illinois in Henry county.

Lightning struck a transformer in Galva, IL around 1214 pm August 7. A power outage was observed on the southeast side of town.

June 23, 2000

Morning upper air analysis showed a low level thermal gradient from Eastern Minnesota through Eastern Iowa into Western Illinois. A southerly low level jet of 25 to 30 knots interacted with the boundary to trigger strong to severe thunderstorms over Northeast Iowa during the late morning. Thunderstorms continued to develop throughout the afternoon, organizing into a bow echo along the Mississippi River, and racing across West Central Illinois during the late afternoon and evening. Many reports of 40 to 50 mph winds and small hail were received. Strong winds downed trees and power lines in Henry County in Cambridge, Andover, Geneseo and Opheim.
