Snowfall of 1 inch accumulated with blowing snow and strong wind gusts of 30-40 mph. Rapidly falling temperatures resulted in slick roads and significant travel impacts. Treacherous travel conditions were noted throughout December 23rd, a busy holiday travel day. Wind chills of -25 were observed on the morning of the 23rd. Extreme cold strained the power grid and rolling blackouts were implemented by utility companies.
More than a quarter inch of ice accumulated across northern Casey County, KY. There was minimal impact in the central part of the county. However, there were power outages in the northern part of the county.
Power lines were down on Bowman Trail Road.
The media reported a tree and power lines were down along Caney Fork Road.
A trained spotter reported power lines down at the intersection of Highway 501 and 1649.

Blueridge, internet, should keep all of us in the co-op updated on status of correcting outages by the areas they are working on so we can have SOME IDEA of when we will get power back on!
Wish the power company would do something about the transformer near where I live. Every time there is a major storm or high winds the transformer sparks and causes an emergency cut off. This is the 8th time this year, 3 within the last 30 days, this has happened. I’ve called the power company about this after the previous times it has happened. I get the “we are currently taking care of these issues and will be getting to your area soon.” My question is when?
