Power Outage in Lisbon, ND

Trees and power lines were blown down. Several fires started from the downed power lines. Nickel to quarter sized hail also fell.

Several sections of cropland across southern Bale Township were heavily damaged by downburst winds and wind driven hail. Several farmsteads were affected, with a machine shed and a pole barn completely destroyed. One tractor was tipped on its side and a half dozen power poles were snapped. Several large steel grain bins were crushed while numerous trees were snapped or uprooted. Widespread downburst winds of up to 115 mph were estimated at some locales.

Over a dozen power poles were either cracked or snapped off along highway 32. Large steel grain bins were popped off their pads and crushed. Numerous large trees were snapped or uprooted in shelterbelts. One trailer home was tipped over. In addition, several sections of cropland across southern and central Aliceton Township were heavily damaged by wind driven hail. Widespread downburst winds of from 80 to 90 mph were likely with peak winds to 115 mph estimated at some locales.

A pole shed roof was blown off and tumbled through a farmyard. It broke down a power pole and power line before coming to rest partially embedded in a farmhouse roof.

This tornado was embedded in a squall line which also produced large hail and a wide swath of damaging downburst winds. The most extreme tornado damage was observed at two farmsteads, one about four miles west of Lisbon where a barn was ripped off its foundation and destroyed, and another about 4 miles ESE of Lisbon where a well constructed steel shop was completely blown apart. At least three wooden power poles were snapped at two different locations east of Lisbon. Numerous lareg trees were blown down or uprooted in Lisbon, and many homes and business had extensive roofing damage. peak winds estimated to 120 mph.

Strong winds blew down trees and branches. Scattered power outages were reported at Fort Ransom State Park.

The tornado cut a large gap in mature hardwood trees near the Sheyenne River and snapped several wooden power poles. Several sections of a large irrigation system were also tipped over. Peak winds were estimated at 115 mph. Some crops were damaged in Owego Township.

A metal machine shed was blown down and several trees were uprooted. Parts of the metal machine shed were twisted around trees in the yard. Two chimney tops were broken off a house, shingles were damaged, and several windows were broken. The farmstead also lost power.
