This is the continuation of the Bossier Parish EF-2 tornado. This tornado weakened slightly as it crossed Pilgrim Rest Road, and tracked northeast before entering the southern sections of Doyline, downing hundreds of trees as it crossed Highways 163 and 164, before entering the extreme southeast corner of Camp Minden. The tornado then tore through the town of Sibley and the northern fringes of Dubberly, where it downed trees and power lines, damaged a metal barn, the roof of a home, and destroyed a shed on Wallraven Road. An 18-wheeler trailer was overturned at the South Webster Industrial Park in Sibley, and a building, fencing, and equipment were damaged at an oil field service company at the park. Just before the tornado crossed Interstate 20 between exits 49 and 52, it developed a much wider swath of damaging straight line winds with its rear flank downdraft near and just south of the tornado track. In fact, a large sign was blown over onto an 18-wheeler at Love's Truckstop at I-20 Exit 49 (Highway 531). After it crossed Interstate 20 southeast of Minden, the tornado then rolled a single-wide mobile home on Fuller Cemetery Road near the Nine Forks community and damaged the roofs of two structures before it moved into Southwest Claiborne Parish. The tornadic winds as it tracked through Southern Webster Parish did weaken slightly from its estimated maximum winds in Eastern Bossier Parish, and ranged from 95-110 mph, which is in the EF-1 range. At least 120 broken power poles and over 250 spans of downed wire were the result of this tornado and associated widespread damaging winds near Doyline, Sibley, Dubberly, and Minden. Significant damage was done to the major power distribution lines that feed the town of Sibley and the South Webster Industrial District.

An EF0 tornado touched down northwest of Minden, Louisiana just west of the Minden airport along Methodist Camp Road. The tornado tracked for approximately 2 miles before dissipating near the Kisatchie National Forecast. Several trees were knocked over and a power pole was snapped just east of Goodwill Road along Elmo Burton Loop. Numerous large branches were also thrown in various directions.

Several lightning strikes caused a transformer to blow and burned down the power pole at the Homer Road-Fincher Road intersection, which cut out power to most businesses on the south side of town. It took crews about three hours to make repairs including setting a new pole, replacing the transformer and repairing the breaker.

Some of the northern Parishes in north Louisiana experienced their second ice storm in as many weeks while others who missed out on the first storm experienced widespread icing problems. Freezing rain accumulations ranged from 1/4 to near 1 inch mainly north of Interstate 20. The Shreveport - Bossier metroplex were not affected by this second storm but widespread power outages were reported across Minden, Homer, Arcadia, Farmerville, Ruston, and Monroe Louisiana. 50,000 residents lost power due to ice accumulations on power lines and fallen trees and snapped trees limbs broken power lines.

An artic airmass spilled southward out of the central plains and into the lower Mississippi Valley. This cold surface airmass was overrun by a warm and humid airmass which combined with a strong upper level storm system across west Texas. The result was widespread freezing rain. Ice accumulations on average of one inch were common north and west of a line from Mansfield and Arcadia to Farmerville LA. An estimated 235,000 residents lost power from snapped power lines. Upwards of 29 transmission lines atop "H" shaped steel towers were snapped due to the weight of the ice. One man was killed and another injured when a tree limb laden with ice fell on them. Numerous traffic accidents were reported from ice covered roads and bridges. In the Shreveport - Bossier metroplex more than 205 streets were either blocked or partially blocked by limbs and fallen trees. Much of northwest Louisiana was declared a disaster area.

A strong upper level trough moved out of the southern Great Basin and into the Lower Mississippi Valley pulling Artic Air southward to the Gulf Coast. Moisture laden air from the Gulf of Mexico moved northward and overran freezing surface temperatures producing an ice storm across the region. Ice accumulations of one to four inches left upwards of 30,000 homes without power due to ice covered tree limbs which snapped and dropped powerlines. Bienville, Clariborne, Lincoln, Ouachita, Union and Webster parishes were declared disaster areas and became eligable for federal aid. Total area damage in these zones ran nearly 7 million dollars. Damage breakdown by individual Parish are not available through this source. Hundreds of chicken houses and carports collapsed from the weight of the ice and snow.

A northward moving warm front across northeast Texas...southwest Arkansas as well as northern Louisiana encountered a very unstable airmass across the region. An upper level disturbance moved northeast from central Texas during the afternoon and evening hours of May 22nd. The result was widespread severe thunderstorms which produced large hail and very damaging wind gusts. Numerous reports of trees and powerlines downed across the region with the Texarkana area getting hit very hard once again.
