Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Camden County
Winter Weather. Precipitation started as rain during the afternoon of January 24th before quickly changing over to snow, with the snow then continuing into the late morning of January 25th. Snow reports ranged from around 1.5 to 2.0 inches across the county. A public report one mile southwest of Osage Beach reported a measured storm total of 2.0 inches of snow. Up to around 60 power outages were reported across the county due to the snow. Roads became snow covered and slippery, with some schools doing early releases on January 24th and numerous schools closed on January 25th across the county.
January 24, 2023
Winter Weather. A band of convective showers changed over to moderate to heavy snowfall rates at times during the early morning hours of January 12th, with some thundersnow even reported. Roads became covered, with widespread slowdowns across the county. School closings occurred in Camdenton, Macks Creek, and Climax Springs. There were approximately 100 power outages across the county, as well. Total snow accumulations ranged from 2.0 inches with a public report 3 miles west southwest of Osage Beach to 4.5 inches from a CoCoRaHS observer 1 mile west southwest of Laurie.

Thunderstorm Wind. A tree was reported down on a power line. The weather station in Camdenton reco0rded a maximum wind gust of 43 mph.
